New Studio – Final Cut System??
Sorry if the subject line makes no sense.
I know there might be some stuff in the archives regarding this, but since every system is different, everyone’s budget is different, and of course everyone’s needs are different – I was hoping for a little help.
I will be doing lots of :30 commercials (with lots of motion graphics) that will be down converted to SD and sent out via mini dv or occasionally beta sp. Also, will be getting into some music videos…don’t foresee any need to master to HD in the near future.
The system I am proposing to buy is as follows:
-ProMac Quad processor w/1 gig ram (buying 8gigs from RamJet to replace)
– (2) 500 gig HDs (one OS, one backup)
-1.5 TB raid array
-Radeon Dual-head ATI graphics card (whichever one is 2 steps up from the basic that apple installs)
-Final Cut Studio 2
-After Effects CS3Question 1) does this seem like a decent setup?
Question 2)I can make beta dubs off the dv deck…so I don’t necessarily need an I/O system such as AJA or blackmagic for analog in/out……but – I would definitely like to be able to monitor HD…and I certainly wouldn’t mind having the analong i/o if not much more $$. What would the best/least expensive solution for that be?? I thought about the blackmagic multibridge pro?? My current studio has a promax system with the AJA konaLhE and we don’t really use it for anything – except I’m wondering if it has something to do with the codecs and rendering in final cut pro.
Question 3) I’ll be shooting on the HVX-200 in 720p DVCProHD…which is what my current studio has, but we have a nice 4TB raid array from promax…and like I said the AJA kona lhe…but we’re still using final cut 5…with a less expensive raid array…and possibly no I/O card/box…but with the newer final cut (studio 2)…can I expect to get similar quality out of the dvcpro HD footage? and be able to work with it without having to render it
Question 4) Anyone know anything about this display?? Seems like a killer deal…I know it’s not good enough to monitor with, but a couple of them would work for editing I think ?
