Browse and (when it is release) Prepare

Will it be possible to rename the clip names and not just change the titles? We import the clips from EX cards and XDCAM disks into our Apple Mac systems, and then we search our hard drive by clip names. We’re still using XDCAM Transfer because that’s the only program that allows us to rename the clips.

We just posted some new updates to Browse and Prepare.

Batch Transcoding has been restored in Browse (provided source clips are in the same format). Thanks to all who helped me lobby to get this restored asap. It was always part of the feature set but was temporarily removed for development reasons (admittedly at the worst possible time…)

There is a lot more in the works so stay tuned..

    Browse 1.10:

Added a Vectorscope tool to the Adjust Color workspace.
Added support for multifile transcoding when all source files use the same source settings.
Added support for reading DNxHD clips.
Added support to combine to one file when copying a spanned AVCHD clip.
Added support for reading SD MPEG-2 clips.
Added support for writing XDCAM EX clips to SxS memory cards.
Added support for transcoding to interlaced XAVC formats.
Added the Transcode button to the Adjust Color workspace.
Added Brightness and Contrast sliders to the Adjust Color workspace.
Added support for reading Apple ProRes 422 files (Mac only).
Added support for showing source clips from the Media Browser. Select a file, click the File button at the bottom of the Media Browser, and choose Show in Finder (Mac)/Show in Explorer (Windows).
Added support for showing additional metadata values in the Media Browser.
Fixed a bug that could prevent color correction settings from being applied to all clips in a clip list.

The apps should prompt for an update but if they do not you can update from Options–>About–>Check For Updates or by downloading from the below links and installing manually..

    Hi Ian,
Thanks for your terrific help with Sony related questions over the years! Based on info on the SonyCreativeServices website, I purchased Content Browser 2.3.1 to ingest footage from my XDCAM EX cameras. The earlier Clip Browser and XDCAM Transfer worked well, but Content Browser repeatedly crashes in Mac OSX 10.8.5 when logging clips. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Hi David– as a troubleshooting step try restarting with all your external drives disconnected. If you still can’t launch try restarting with your wifi/network connections disabled. This will hopefully at least point us in a direction. There is no log file for me to analyze if we can’t at least get to the UI after installing.

    Hi Ian,
I have no problem launching Content Brower, in fact, I’m able to log clips and export into FCP; however during the logging process, when adding in and out points or scrolling through the timeline, the application will freeze with a spinning beach ball of death. I have to force quit the application and relaunch in order to continue working before the next time it does not respond. I will copy the crash report and attach if that would be helpful.

ok.. If it’s happening during logging it sounds like a permissions issue. Are these optical discs or SxS cards? Make sure you have the latest SxS UDF driver or optical VFAM driver. Let me know…

    Hi Ian,
I updated the SXSUDF driver and it seems to have solved the problem. No crashes so far at least.
    Thanks!
