September 9, 2010 at 7:16 pmI believe I read something about the work on either Robin Hood or Avatar and remote grading. Incredible stuff.

September 10, 2010 at 5:36 amJust saw the new version 7 manual for Resolve. To be clear, Remote grading is not a new capability. To my knowledge, this was included in Resolve for last couple of years, but DaVinci marketing didn’t know what to do with it, until now. With new inexpensive kit (relatively speaking), now it is practical to do real time, full resolution, client supervised, remote grading sessions. Three weeks ago I had tested it with two Macs in the office of BM and it was like buttah:-)
Now, all we need is the ability to trim R3D files and a colorist can be anywhere in the world. Good times:-) -

Thanks guys! It’s time to dig in. I know what I’m doing this weekend.

September 10, 2010 at 4:22 pmRemote grading is regularly used amongst the larger facilities when either sharing a project between offices or working with DOPs/Directors in other countries.
I believe Scott Pilgrim was recently worked on in this manner between two Ascent/Company 3 locations.
Lots of new features in there, and more on the way 😉
