I have CS, which is version 8 of the software, which has been installed on my G5 PPC for 6 years or so. Suddenly, yesterday, PS wouldn’t load. I have never had any trouble at all before yesterday. The load screen comes up, and all goes normally until the “reading gradients” or “reading patterns” functions come up, at which point, it just sits there with a wristwatch symbol, then the spinning beach ball of death.

I have no real expertise in the tech side of software installation, but I did look to uninstall/reinstall but found no uninstaller, so I decided to just leave it alone and get on the forums.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

    Many thanks!

Sounds like you need to reset. Hold down ctrl-alt-shift (or cmd-option-shift) as soon as you start launching PS. You should get a dialog box asking if you want to delete your settings. Answer yes. The side effect is that PS will now revert to its original settings and layouts.
