New PC not performing correctly in Premiere Pro
Hi guys,
l’ve just put together a new pc specifically designed for 4k editing in Premiere and After Effects. However, it is not performing anywhere near as expected. It can’t playback DJI P4P 4k footage without continually dropping frames. Is this normal? Seems to playback Sony A7 iii 4k footage ok but starts to struggle once colour grading and effects are added. The spacebar and playbutton will randomly stop working when switching to an internet browser then back into Premiere yet the marker button will still work. Once this happens Premiere cannot be closed normally, only via the task manager. I reset the preferences and it fixed the problem until it started happening again not long after.

Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32GB DDR4
Seagate Barracuda 4TB
Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe SSD 1TB
Samsung 860 EVO 2.5in SATA SSD 1TB
l’m running the OS and any software on the Samsung 970 and then storing the projects scratch disks on the Samsung 860. Rendering wise it is performing very fast. l’ve ran stress tests on the CPU and there is no thermal throttling. Temps are around 60 degrees.

Transcode the footage to Prores or DNxHR.

Maybe try to determine if there are different controllers for the different SATA ports. If the two SSD drives are on one bus, it may be getting saturated.
I took a look at the Gigabyte webpage and couldn’t determine anything beyond that it had 6 SATA ports. I would guess there are at least two or three controllers. Some will be in the motherboard chipset and others will be on separate controllers.
I’m most likely wrong, but perhaps try moving one of the SSD drives to a different port.
