  • new pc for Premiere edits, etc?

Posted by Joe Daniels on March 10, 2009 at 5:22 pm

I am in the market for a new pc. I want to be able to buy one where I dont have to build, etc. What do I need to be able to edit in Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, etc. and play an occasional game here and there without having to worry about it freezing up or being sluggy.

Any thoughts? Do I go with HP, Dell? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

[Joe Daniels] “and play an occasional game here and there”

I do not think this requirement goes along with building an editing system.

The answer to your main question relies mostly on what your budget is and on what kind of footage you plan on editing.
There are also other parameters like what kind of deliverables will you need on your final footage.

I’ve had major issues with 2 separate HP computers. They’re cheap…..but….they’re cheap.

Hear the workstation level units are not bad. WAY too much bloatware.

I’ve had much better luck with Dell but bloatware on those as well.

I’ve got a Dell on the way after giving up on the HPs.

    Good luck,

    Todd
