October 25, 2011 at 3:55 pmHi Juan….
What happened this weekend was a web glitch on our part and not intentioanl at all. Again it was not our intent to expose that information and knowing that this draft info on a prominent site like the COW could lead to confusion, we contacted Ron. Together we agreed that removing the post was the best option since, at the time, we didn’t know the extent of what was uploaded.
We weren’t “censoring,” but just trying to react quickly to a situation we didn’t yet know the scope of. Had we been in censorship mode we would have tried to remove all reference to the information everywhere.
Our apologies that you took it this way but you were the first to post and we didnt know how much was out there …. not our intention to offend.
A lot of you folks have sent me emails asking very specific ?’s that I am not at liberty to comment on…. I do hope you like the glimpse you did get but I can’t comment further.
I posted a similar note on the L2.

AVID was NOT censoring, we were. And we will ALWAYS do it.
Why?
We believe that YOU have a right to your intellectual property rights being protected. We do not think that anyone’s free speech rights or fair use rights allow them to violate your intellectual property rights. We believe that your rights should be protected and we believe the same for AVID, for ourselves and for everyone else. We are working professionals here and if intellectual property is not protected, then all of us lose. All of us.
If you or others wish to violate NDAs, you can — but NOT HERE.
If you don’t like it, please feel free to drop the COW from your list of places to visit.
If you don’t like our response, then you do not know anything about the COW as we have had this policy since we began building forums communities online back in 1995. It has always been like this and will not be changing in the foreseeable future.
Best regards,
Ronald Lindeboom
