3 Q’s related to today’s announcements from Apple, and Resolve:

How do the GPUs on the new MacBook Pros compare to Blackmagic’s recommendations for Resolve?

Is there a clear advantage for Resolve to the M1 Max over the M1 Pro chip?

If you drive 1-3 external monitors, does that impact the GPU’s performance with Resolve?

    Thanks.

I guess when the laptops are freely available and people start testing them you might get feedback on various forums about performance. Blackmagic always publish recommendations for minimum requirements but they don’t test and compare hardware specifically. Well perhaps they do but only for themselves, not for the public.

With out specific answers in general..

    1) Resolve should run fine to great on the new machines. Do mind they are laptops

    2) Since Resolve really benifits from GPU(s), yes, defiantly. Also the enhance media engines will help.

    3) Probably a bit yes. I can’t however see where you would drive more than 2 displays + BMD video out.

The software developers, namely Rohit Gupta who was featured in the Apple announcement video, have early access to the MacBook hardware. Posting this question at https://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/ might elicit a response.
