    Hey there,
    I recently bought a new mac pro with 16GB of RAM

    How ever, when I attempt to Ram preview anything (even very simple comps ie with just footage) it renders about 7 seconds then stops…

    when I scrub the green bar takes out cached frames as it creates new ones..

    this is very odd as my old G5 with 2.5 Gb of Ram was able to Ram preview much longer even in much more complex comps.

    Memory settings are the default, running CS3, have Ram preview set to auto res, from current time.

    I’m guessing theres a simple solution..its just very frustrating as it won’t ram preview even extremely simple (and short) comps.

    Any ideas?

    Specs;
    mac pro 8 core 2.8ghz
    16GB Ram
    Nvidia 8800GT 512mb

    Thanks Dave, I’ll look into it a bit more (multi processing), and still working with the same formats & resolutions. Final Renders and all other AE operations are MUCH faster wih the new machine, it just seems the RAM cache fills up seemingly too quickly…

    Only major change was the purchasing of nucleo pro 2, but even when I try and spec preview with that it seems to only cache a smaller number of frames than I would expect..
    I disabled Nucleo Pro 2 and previews still seemed to be shorter than expected. (around 7 seconds at full sd PAL widescreen res)

    Would it be wise at all to increase the max Ram cache from 60%?
