Looking to buy a new MAC Pro 8 core, entry level with Final Cut Pro Studio 7. Any suggestions on where to buy and get good deal OR is apple store my only option?

    Thanks.

Do you know how to set an FCP system up? If not look for a local VAR (Value Added Reseller). Here in Atlanta I use the WH Platts company for all my computer / system purchases.

A good national VAR to purchase from is ProMax. They will preconfigure and test your system before shipping it to you and are excellent at tech support.

Good reputable online resellers include MacMall.com and MacSales.com.

The price of the Mac will be about the same everywhere as Apple controls the pricing. What you will get if you try online resellers are add-ons like free printers, upgraded RAM, etc…

Minimum RAM should be 4GB, though 8 is better. You can purchase the RAM from Crucial.com. Generally purchasing through anyone other than Apple will get you cheaper RAM.

If I have to get something quick and locally, then I’ll go to either the Apple Store nearby or Fry’s Electronics.
