Anyone know when PP CC will be optimized for the new MP?

And is it possible using a 3.0GHz 8-core MP and best GFX card apple offers, with 32GB RAM to edit 4K red footage or any 4K on regular ThunderBolt2 external hard drives, without having to use the mega $ Promise or other kind of RAID system drives?

    Thanks

R3D (and other compressed 4K) footage should be cool with a beefy processor. Uncompressed 4K (for example DPX, DNG, TIFF image sequences) needs some hardcore read performance speeds of 1-2 GB/s depending on the frame size.

A raid 0 on the TB would be enough to handle Red media and a Raw layer or 2. Beyond that you are looking at the 4bay units or better depending on the codec and layers.

Thanks for replies – does anyone know of really good external hard drives that use TB2 already, not raid?

TB 2 wont change the speed of that drive at all. It takes more than 4 bay units to do that. You just need to make sure you don’t put any TB2 devices on the same chain.
