New Laptop Recommendation for Vegas?

December 6, 2022 at 4:03 pmBeen using Vegas for over 20 years now (starting with SF 3.0) and it has become my go to editor.
For over a decade, I’ve been using my trusty Toshiba Qosmio X875-Q7390 Laptop.
It was top notch back then and still worked well enough for all my needs using Vegas Pro 15 right up to last night when I finished a big 4k render
Unfortunately, the screen just went blank on me this morning, so now I’m on the hunt for a replacement machine
I’m willing to go down in screen size (my Qosmio is a beast), but I want enough speed and storage to handle whatever Vegas has to throw at it
Touchscreen would be nice, but not a deal breaker
Suggestions?

December 7, 2022 at 1:35 pmWell, after taking it to my shop and blowing out the dust with some air, the screen came back to life (yay!!)
Still looking into a new machine though just in case
Found this page:

One thing I notice with the new machines is that they only have one HD
I loved the fact that my old Qosmio has two 1TB HD’s

December 12, 2022 at 11:21 pmI bought a dell xps laptop for video editing after watching reviews on Youtube… I saw that I could add a second SSD harddrive myself (there was a spot for it) and how to upgrade RAM myself. I bought a 17″ version, the new 17″ versions are the size of what 15.4″ laptops used to be (smaller edges around the screen), spent over $2,000 so it wasn’t cheap but I LOVE it, so maybe check the dell xps series out. If I were a writer I think I’d get an HP instead, I like the key touch of HP laptops more than Dell. (Bought off Amazon FYI)
