New iMac External HD quandary
I made the leap to a new 27″ iMac which does not allow the connection of FW800 hard drives. My old iMac of course did. What are my options for connecting these hard drives via an adapter cable or if available I can use a USB connection.
Ultimately, do I need to purchase a new hard drive with thunderbolt for optimal performance?Neal Klaeser

You must buy this adapter in orden to use your firewire disks.https://store.apple.com/us/product/MD464ZM/A/apple-thunderbolt-to-firewire-adapter
Of course a thunderbolt disk would be better but you can still use your old disks.
