August 9, 2013 at 2:58 amjust using the imac no external monitor for now as i want to get this problem sorted out first.
After further testing i notice the problematic footages are all XDCAM EX. Just for fun i started a new virgin PP CC and import just one clip and playback is also jerky. The same clip imported via CS6 gives me CODEC missing ….hmmm, both of these operation worked fine on my MBP.

August 9, 2013 at 11:33 amI can test later when I get home. I have tons of XDCAM footage but the only thing I have play with on my new computer is DSLR and C300 footage.

August 9, 2013 at 1:08 pmok i got it to work with CS6 by installing the QT codec patch, but in order to do so you need Compressor, Shake or FCX installed.
XDcam EX via PP CC is still a mess though….the same XDcam EX clips played great in FCX
On a positive note, Protools HD Native works like a charm on the new iMac 27”

August 9, 2013 at 1:18 pmAnyone knows why on PP CC i have access to all the ”render & playback” option (such as CUDA, Open GL or software) but on PP CS6, the option is grayed out and stuck at software only.
I have the latest CUDA version installed.

August 9, 2013 at 1:55 pmAre you running the latest Premiere CC? The 7.0.1 release made a lot of improvements with XDCAM. It’s running flawlessly here on the exact same iMac config.
Also – you don’t need FCP, Motion, or Compressor to access the ProApps Codec package. You can use a free utility like unpkg to unpack the installer and drag and drop the codecs into you Quicktime folder.
There are a few codecs that cause problems with Premiere and removing them from Quicktime might help you. Go to Macintosh HD > Library > Quicktime and drag out everything you don’t need to try and make the list as minimal as possible. You can always drag them back in later. I would suggest keeping ProRes, DVCPROHD and IMX for starters and moving everything else out. Then restart, launch Premiere, and see if things are better. If so, start re-adding codecs 1 or 2 at a time until you track down the one causing all the problems. Not sure this is your problem – but we had 2 systems here (out of 12) giving us odd playback issues with XDCAM footage and this solved it on both of them. I just can’t remember which codec we ended up having to remove.
Good luck.

August 9, 2013 at 3:35 pmWatch this video (https://www.vidmuze.com/how-to-enable-gpu-cuda-in-adobe-cs6-for-mac/ )and hack the GPU list to make it available in CS 6. As with all types of modifications like this, you run the risk of other problems and do so at your own risk.
Still not sure why it is not showing up in PPro CC if the card is actually on Adobe’s certified list.

October 3, 2013 at 4:16 pmI can’t seem to find where this is listed…
I’m hoping to get more info on the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4GB in the latest iMacs… Can’t see it listed anywhere as being supported for CUDA acceleration in Premiere…
