    HI
    I’ve got a Dell Inspiron 2400
2.4 Ghz 1/2 Gig of Ram
    80 & 300 gig Hd’s.

The machine was purchased for me as a rehab effort following a brain-injuring viral attack that I had 4 years ago.

I’d like to explore C4D as a therapy/ hobby, but with Christmas fast approaching could someone tell me what I might need in a video card, or roughly how much I should expect it to run me?

    Please indulge me.
    I’m to young to knit beer-can-hats as a pass-time.

    Thanx much for whatever—-

Well, for 3D the latest and best hardware is always barely good enough. ;O) I think when you have a GeForce out of the 7800 series you should be more than fine. Even the older 6800 models will be good enough when you are really just a beginner. Your initial scenes will never exceed a certain complexity and thus never really max out your graphics. Just be aware that with GeForces there is that GT/ GTS/ GTX thing where some versions have stripped down features. So if you can, find someone who knows a little about hardware and can advise you better than I can. While you are updating your system and if you have a few bucks left, I would also increase the amount of RAM. It’s particularly crucial for rendering and Cinema 4D, while not the ultimate monster app, certainly already consumes a noticeable amount of memeory itself.

    Cheers
