There si one more very important hting you will have to do
edit >> preferences >> apperance of black >> UNCHECK overpirint black at 100%

You can confirm the importance of this by:
window >> output >> seperations Preview
Draw a red circle
draw a black box over half the red circle
toggle the visibility on/off for the black channel in the seperations palette
