June 2, 2006 at 9:42 pmFor scratch, I wouldn’t say it’s necessary. Essentially, what journaling does is help your drive survive a crash better. If nothing absolutely necessary is stored on the drive, I wouldn’t worry about it.

June 2, 2006 at 11:49 pmWhy not keep it the same as your main os drive. I recently added a couple of drives to my Firmtek system and there was an issue with comatibility with any non-journaled drives (according to the set-up guide). Who knows, you may need to add a few more later so journaling may keep them all compatible in a similar situation.

June 3, 2006 at 6:13 pmMake it NON-Journaled or you will probably be back in a week asking why you are getting dropped frames. Just keep your project file on the system drive and your media on the external drive.
