  • New graphics card = Dropped frames?

I had my graphics card replaced earlier this week under my AppleCare support agreement. My ATI card was no longer available so it was replaced with an nVidia card. Since then, I seem to be having more dropped frames than I did with my old card.

Is it possible that the new card would cause me to be dropping frames? It is the only thing that has changed in the setup. A reboot helps.

    Kona 3
    Mac 10.5.8
New video card: nVidia 8800GT 512MB(running at full speed in the expansion utility)
Old video card: ATI 1900XT 256MB

Doubt it’s the card, we have a handful of system set up exactly the same as yours and we’ve never had a problem with that card

Is it actually dropping frames or do you just get the warning? When I switched to FCS3 I got those warnings with the ATI 4870 card and an internal RAID on a brand new 2.9 nehalem octo. It wasn’t actually dropping frames so I turned the warning off and no trouble since (and absolutely no dropped frames either).
