    Hi,

I bought the new NVIDIA 4000 for Mac video card, and I installed it on Friday in slot 2, with the stock card [ATI 5771] in slot 1.

Today I removed the stock card and move the NVIDIA to slot 1.

In checking the Profiler, it seems to be seeing two instances of the NVIDIA card – see pic:

    Any idea if:
    a: that’s a problem?
b: If so, how to remove one of those instance?

I’ve rebooted a couple of times since the new card has been inserted.

    Tx,

    Wayne

Did you have to install a driver, or is that card plug and play?

If you did install the drivers, I’d think about uninstalling and reinstalling.

Also, Macs seldom (if ever) run properly with two video cards onboard.

    HI DRW,

    Thanks for replying.

I took your advice and uninstalled then reinstalled the drivers.

The GPU appears to be working fine, but I’m still seeing two instances of it in the System Profiler [!]
The stock GPU is out of the machine, ie, I’m just running the NVIDIA card.

That that all appears to be running fine, should I just ignore what it’s saying the Profiler?

    Tx,

    Wayne

I would ignore it and just forge ahead with work. You’ll know soon enough if you have any issues, but hopefully you’ll be good to go.

    Hi Wayne,

This behaviour is normal for a Quadro 4000 on Mac OS. The 4000 is effectively two GPUs in one and this behaviour is common to all multi-PCB Nvidia GPUs.

    Enjoy the workhorse!
