    Hi all,

Was very happy this afternoon testing out our new dual 2.7 G5 w/ 3.5gb of RAM… Very quick using AE and PS.

However, was a little surprised when I loaded up a simple scene using no lights, no textures but with radiosity enabled and rendered on both the PC (noname brand Dual Xeon 3.06ghz / 2gb RAM) and G5 individually. The P.C completed the render in 10.18 mins but the mac took 15.08

Any ideas on how I might speed up the g5 ? I’ve disabled all the widgets I had running and all other apps….I’d like to believe the new machine would run around the P.C.. Any ideas ?

    Cheers,

    Andy

p.s: Guess if not i’ll use the Xeon as the render machine..

That’s strange. I’d have expected the two machines to perform roughly the same in rendering. https://www.3dfluff.com/mash/cbdual.php

    well, radiosity always does suck.

however, try this, go in preferences under threads and instead of 2, set it to 4. ive never tried 8, but in realflow and other apps with 8 you get instability issues

    hope that helps
