I’m trying to add a bundle of new video filters to my FCP 5 App, where do I put them?
And should I throw out the old plist? Should I throw out the old FCP Preference file under
    User>Library>Preference file?
    Thanks,
    Joe
    PS
Seems the CGM plug-ins are reading fine, but the Virtix are not.

I’d drop by their Web sites. Where to put them should be included in the installation notes.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

The Virtix filters could be AE native filters no longer supported in FCP 5+ since FCP changed its effects architecture.

    Joe,

I’m surprised Graeme didn’t pitch his filters to you, they are mostly must-haves, especially Big Box of Tricks.

Eureka! are also great, and Joe’s Filters.

If you have the cash, look at Boris Continuum Complete.

    Have a wonderful day.

Thanks Chris. Yes, I’ve heard Graeme’s filters are real treat, some nice touches…but do they
bog down rendering much? I’m working in FCP 5.1.4, is FCP 6 (in Studio 2) a mega upgrade?
Will filters work more smoothly there, and is everything (filter wise) applicable to HDV?
    Thanks again,
    Joe

    Hey Joe,

Graeme’s filters render pretty fast, but you may want to look at the FX factory if speed is an issue. There are some pretty cool effects in there. I don’t see much of a speed increase in 6, and yes, they all should work fine with HDV, but you should look at the options as there are a number of good workflows working with HDV, so check the archives.

    Have a wonderful day.
