Okay, I’ve come to the conclusion this system is holding me back, at least time wise.

So I’ve got about 6K to spend on a new rig. I have the complete production studio and would like reccommendations on components to optimize Production Studio, but mainly accelerate AE 7.0.

I have built three editing PC’s myself and can handle the build, but haven’t kept up on hardware for about 2 years.

    Thanks,

    JayH

    General guideline?

Duel core + duel processor. Intel Xeon would be my preference. x32 and x64 bit compatible. The more memory the better. Some type of RAID, the new WD Raptor 10k drives are really nice :)….

I’d have to agree with Jack, but do you have time to build?
To get specific, I’d recommend the same system that I’m going to be upgrading to in the next three months. Boxx Tech 7400…

Let me introject that I don’t work for boxx, but I really love their products!
Best bang for the buck, 7400 w/ Quad 64 bit core (Opteron 270), 6Gb Ram, NVIDIA Quadro FX 3450 256MB, 120 Gb RAID 1 for the system drive, 360 Gb RAID 5 for Storage – Just over $6k

AE 7, needs Ram, Fast drives, and will take advantage of a Huge Graphics pipeline…
If you can build this for less please let me know!
    Thanks,
    bp
