New E Series 64gb card takes DOUBLE the transfer time?
We just bought a new E series card and I was all excited about the 1.2gbs transfer rate from the 800mbs from our other cards. So I put in a full 64gb card into my AJ-PCS060 to transfer via USB (as always) and it gave me an estimated 2 hour transfer! This is double of what I am used to, I usually get 35-40 minutes for a 32gb card which is roughly 1gb per minute.
What gives?

According to the specs, the “E” series should faster than the original series as far as write time is concerned but transfer time should not be any slower. Although I haven’t put a stopwatch to it, I have found the transfer time of the 64GB “E” series, using the Panasonic PCD 35, to be extremely fast.

Well, you have double the media, so that will add some time. ANd I’m not sure the AJ-PCS060 has e series firmware? If so you should update it.

You’re right Jeremy but the time is doubled based on minutes per gigabyte. There wasn’t firmware updates for that reader unfortunately.

Right so it’s twice as much time for twice as much material?
Also, since the reader isn’t ‘officially’ supported (even though it might work) I am not sure if it’s an accurate test.
What happens if you use the camera as a litmus?

No I was getting 1gb a minute before and now it’s closer to 500mb per minute

You are transferring USB, what do you expect? FW 800 should be a little faster. I’d be interested to find out the transfer times on the Qio (available 2/5) via esata.
I too have to get used to the transfer time between my 64 and 32 gb cards compared to my 16 gb. It’s 2x to 4x the data. Bottom line, I don’t have to offload on the job.

I don’t seem to be making myself clear. My issue is a change in transfer speeds with the only variable being the card. I have always used that reader, I have always used USB. I am aware that I am transferring double the data, but the rate that data transfers is twice as slow.

The P2 Store was designed to offload 4 and 8 GB cards. The HD in the AJ-PCS060 drive is 60 GB and you are trying to offload 64 GB. If I’m not mistaken, the maximum you can fit on the AJ-PCS060 is 32GB. And that would be from offloading a 32GB card.

I don’t use the internal HD, just transfer to a high speed SATA drive
