Has anyone had exsperience running a Media composer Adrenaline on a HP xw8600 with quad-core processors? I know it isnt avid certified yet, but I wonder if it makes sense to buy one. I also do heaps of after effects work on my workstation, so would benefit from the extra power. Any ideas?

    thanks in advance

I can’t tell you what to do, only what I would do.

I would wait until the xw8600 is certified by Avid. I would wait because I need to be editing, not troubleshooting.

Let someone else do the trailblazing on this; that is my opinion.

I agree – why spend all that money if it doesn’t work.
The xw8400 is the current supported computer. I understand that you don’t want to buy an “outdated model”, but you are taking a BIG chance. Remember, AVID does NOT support Microsoft SP updates, so changing computer hardware is even a bigger chance (and I have seen LOTS of system fail because of simple Microsoft service pack updates on supported xw8400’s).
