    Hey guys,

I’m planning to buy a new camcorder, since I’m getting pretty tired of keying bad resolutions DV shots. I have a Sony Handycam. I wouldn’t know what other informations to give since I’m far from being a professional when it comes to decide wich camcorder as a better resolution.

Well, I don’t know if it’s the way I exported it the all time, but I always used Windows Movie Maker to export my videos from my cam to my computer. Alright, I know Windows Movie Maker is like, for an AE user, the cheapest software ever; but that’s about the only export program I know!

I mean, I export my vids in Windows Media, NTSC 2,1 Mo/secs. That’s the highest exporting resolution you can get, I think, after trying them all, in WMM.

Well I spoke with the seller and after trying them all I figured this one would respond to my needs. Okay, I know Future Shop aren’t selling professional camcorders, but my camera has only one utility: shoot in front of my green screen so it’s quite normal that I want a cam’ that will punch up the RGB channels (especially the green) and this cam seems to do it.

Am I making the right choice? Should I keep my old cam’?

I just wanted to know if you guys could give me some tips that could help me to make the right choice?

    Thx for your time!

That level of camera you linked to will provide little or no improvement over what you’re currently shooting. If you want better keys you should be prepared to spend a lot more $.

    Thx for your response Noah.

I wondered if someone could point me a camera in the Future Shop page that would improve my keying?

I know that Future Shop doesn’t have professional camcorders; but only advanced familial ones. Or if you guys have time, could link me to a page of some professional camcorders not to expensive. I’m ready to pay 2000$? I’ll have time to search when I’ll be home from work but I just wondered if you guys, since you know better then me, could help me a little finding what I described.

Thx for the help Noah; and all.

I’d suggest an older used Canon XL1s with a good lens. At 2K that might give you a better shot. Or if you can find a used DVX100 that also would be superior.
