July 8, 2015 at 10:23 pmBeware Simon, the enclosure at the link you provided is JBOD only – the one below that on the Areca site is their similar 8-bay enclosure built for a RAID array, which is the one you really need.
FYI, I’m now consulting with a number of different resellers, and I can get you many storage products at a great price lower than any you can find online.

July 25, 2015 at 4:33 pmI suspect the reality is that until Thunderbolt 3 lands there’s not really any benefit to 12G hardware, as even the current crop of 6G 8-bay Thunderbolt RAIDs tend to saturate the capabilities of Thunderbolt well before delivering the theoretical throughput of eight drives stripped together.
