    Hello-

i’ve got an a-roll with some effects that i’ve rendered out completely. i want to version this edit out, so i’ve nested it into a new sequence. on v2, i’ve placed a graphic.tga with dissolves in and out. the render status for the duration of the clip is dark green indicating its a realtime effect at full quality with no rendering required.

when the playhead hits the graphic after that first dissolve, the nested a-roll on v1 jumps or skips to a different portion of video. disabling the graphic reveals a different but correct portion of the a-roll. removing both dissolves on the graphic results in the same jump edit over the duration of the graphic.

is anyone else having this issue? my only workaround so far is to render the graphic over the nested sequence even tho the render status is dark green (full). obviously id like to not have to render.

    running fcp 5.0.2, tiger 10.4.2, xsan, G5 dual 2.7, 4 gigs RAM,GeForce 6800, deckllink HD pro

Often, you still have to render graphics to get them to playback smoothly prior to output, even if they’re in RT. I do it for safety anyway.

Maybe try ramping opacity rather than the dissolves. They might be lower overhead.

And I’ve actually experienced a variation of this myself in FCP HD. Basically I’m in the middle of a project where I have created 4 Projects and at least 14 sequences (so far). I had a couple of nested sequences back to back with regular clips; basically sequences within sequences! My fix was to go into the Render Manager and erase all the previous render files and just do a clean render of the current sequence.

The Render Manager is your friend! 🙂
