August 20, 2007 at 1:51 pmi’ll give it a go and see if there’s improvement. i’m still not quite clear on the field order thing, if that’s a problem too.
how do you tell the field order has gone wrong other than it looks visually wrong. i know dv pal is lower field first and just about everything else is upper first. and i know you can change that setting in the sequence settings. where do you find the setting on an actual clip and what is the proper way to use the shift fields filter? Does it need to be applied in each sequence. can you apply it to a nested sequence or just a clip.
thanx for the help and your patience,

August 20, 2007 at 1:51 pmYou may well have crippled it going from v5 to v6. Never do that. Finish the project in 5. Scaling behavior and how material is placed with different sequence sizes and properties has changed substantially between the two versions.
All the best,
Tom

[Andwon] “what is the proper way to use the shift fields filter?”
I don’t use it unless I see a reverse interlaced shot on my monitor. I use it on individual shots.

August 23, 2007 at 10:57 amhello,
andwon reporting back. i tried all things suggested. nested sequence is scaled only in the master sequence. all sequences are dv pal as well as all clips(beta captured via firewire as dv); so no fields issue. maybe this thread should be re-named interlace probs, but i don’t know. there just seems to be a reduction in resolution, artifacts, and banding in the scaled nested sequences that still seems to be unexplainable. never had a prob scaling anything until 6. I’m looking at all of this from the timeline rendered on a Sony LCD monitor coming component out from a Kona 3 card. any thoughts appreciated.
Cheers,
andwon
