I’m attempting to convert the Canon 7Ds H.264 files to a format more easily digested by Sony Vegas. I’m currently trying Cineform’s Neoscene… When I try to convert the files it pops up an error in the log sheet saying something about “the frame rate cannot be determined, defaulting to 29.97fps.” The original footage was shot at 24fps and I have checked the ‘maintain source framerate’ checkbox. Is there anyone who has run into the same problem?

I have converted 60fps and 30fps in Neoscene with no problems from 7D files and I use Vegas on a Windows Vista machine. I have read that you need Quicktime installed on your computer for Neoscene to work properly.

Also the actual frame rate for the 24 fps H264 footage is 23.976. It’s not 23.98 or 24. It is 23.976 so if you can choose that or make it part of a custom transcode use it.

You also may want to check out the DVFilm EPIC plugin. It allows you to edit 7D h.264 files in realtime without transcoding.

    Hope this is helpful.
