I have the latest neoscene 5.2, and vegas 10.0a and am still trying to get the Vegas to layout by timecode.

Actually, I reported earlier that it does it nicely, although the documentation skips steps and their tech support person said the documentation is correct.

However, I need to use the cineform in order to make it bearable to edit on my machine. When I convert AVCHD to cineform using either Vegas as the transcoder or Neoscene as the transcoder, the timecodes are dropped.

Cineform today confirmed this and said that fix is slated for a Neoscene replacement at least one year away.

Does anyone know of a third party application that might use the cineform codec to transcode without dropping the timecodes?

Have you tried rendering the AVCHD to Cineform within Vegas Pro? Does that keep the timecode? If that works, then you can use VASST GearShift to convert all of your AVCHD to Cineform with timecode intact.
