NeoScene Blues
I’m trying the demo version of NeoScene with a view to improving Preview in Vegas which is stuttery – particularly when previewing transitions or effects – on my I7 920 12Gb RAM PC, which is not a slow machine, although it copes with “straight” footage.
NeoScene files converted from AVCHD are also.. stuttery – particularly when viewing transitions, although this too copes with “straight” footage.
It would appear that I would be gaining little by investing $120 here.. or have I missed something?

You might try checking the option in Neo Scene that encodes with “smart rendering”. I believe that Vegas plays these back a bit smoother.

If you do any color correcting, it is also supposed to improve color space.

I tried the smart rendering option and yes, it does seem to produce a slight improvement, though 3D transitions are flakey or can even stall in preview.. perhaps I’m asking for too much here.

Yes, you are asking too much. 3D transitions are moving a lot of pixels around in HD. They usually play slower. That’s what RAM preview is for (Shift+B). 😉
