Error message: “Unable to Initialize Capture Device”

I’m sure this is some simple setting – but cannot figure it out.

I am trying to capture some tapes shot in DV.

I have two options for capture.
    1. From my Sony HDV 1080i/MiniDV camera
    2. From my Sony DVCAM DSR-20 deck

I have no trouble capturing footage shot in the Sony HDV (above). Works like a charm. But now I am trying to capture regular DV (shot on a different camera). And I cannot get it to capture from either of the two decks above.

    QUESTIONS:
    1. Can I change settings on the camera (above) to allow me to use it for capture of these DV tapes?
    2. If not, what settings do I need to change within FCP to allow me to capture from the DVCAM deck?

I am using FCP 6.0.6 on a MacBook Pro running 10.6.3.

Again, when capturing footage shot on my camera everything is working just fine. It is when trying to capture these regular DV tapes that I am hitting a barrier.

Thanks for your kind help. JD
