Needing Audio live but layering it during the edit
Hi all,
Wonder if anyone can help me….I’m working on a project similar to an Exercise DVD (a la Davina McCall or other fat to fit celeb) and am needing an audio source poresent during filming so the presenter is in time with the music. However, i want to minimise how much it comes through their radio mic as we dont have the luxury of a talkback/earpiece system.
Does anyone know of any solutions to:
1. Sync up the audio effectively between video and layer that will be added during the edit
2. A better way to record the audio so the presenter can hear it, but the mics cant?Any ideas would be greatly appreciated and if i’ve explained myself badly and you need some clarification let me know!

Hi James.
1) Why do you regard an earpiece as a luxury? Modern in ear headphones of the ipod type are so cheap (I bought some in ear ones for £3.00 last week from TK maxx!) Plug it in to the receiver of a radio mic and put the playback into the transmitter at low level or pad down by 40 db and youre away .Talkback. This really is the only way of having the pres able to hear and dance to music and NOT hear it on the recording.

Having the pickup capsule only a few cms from the mough will 1) allow her to move more freely and 20 lessen the pick up as theyre VERY proximity based.

All this stuff is easily available to o hire.
Failing all that, keep the volume down to an absolute minimum on playback, dont use a lively room as the sound will travel, and cut the bass on playback to minimise boom.
