Hey guys, i’m struggling to find a good workflow suggestion for dvcpro50 footage that was shot 16×9 anamorphic.
Heres the deal: We have a FCP5 box that we digitzed a ton of dvcpro50 footage in via firewire. Looks great performas as expected. We’ve done 4 rough cuts in FCP, and now i need to get these edits to my compositing guys so they can do their thing. I have automatic duck to make this timeline transition, but the kicker is the DVCPro footage, which does not work on a PC becuase the codec is not available (all our compositing is done on pc’s). Is there any good/easy way to do some batch dump of all the footge on the timeline and convert it to a lossless QT codec so the PC’s can read it (and then safely let me put it back in the FCP timelene)? I’m okay if i have to render one long sequence out of AFX to get it back to FCP, but I don’t want to do this cut by cut, because obviously that would be a nightmare. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
    thanks

    Try this:-

    Make a new bin
Drag all the clips from the timeline into the bin
select all the clips then do a batch export using your codec of choice

Or worst case scenario you could always make new copy of that project using media manager and then do the above

Oh but the DVCPro50 codec *is* available for PCs:

    https://www.mainconcept.com/codecs.shtml scroll to the bottom

Avid has one with their NewsCutter.

https://www.free-codecs.com/download/ACE_Mega_CoDecS_Pack.htm this includes the free Matrox DVCPro50 codec for PCs, I don’t know anything
    about it though.

only problem with that is that it would be a conversion process (i’d have to convert the QT codec to the DVCpro 50 AVI codec) and i’m pretty sure i’t take a generation loss hit there.
Too bad you can’t use the main concept codec to digitze in preimeire pro with (and actually control a dvcpro 50 camera/deck)
