Need wireless mics… What should I be looking for?

Hello Kelley and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

The Sennheiser G2 or AudioTechnica 1800 are as low as you want to go.

LectroSonics, Zaxcom and Audio Ltd. as you go up.

Why use wireless? You have better odds of not being interfered with if you use a cable.

Overhead boom will give much better sound.

Yes, in the right circumstances, with the mic placed in the correct position with the person being miced not moving around much, the proper boom mic will result in better sound, but there are any number of situations in which the lav will win over the boom.

Hi Ty,

I am still learning everyday in this field. Can you give me some situations where a lav will sound better then a boom mic.

I know there are situations where it is more practical to use lavs but I would like to know more about where they will “sound” better. Tell me your secrets!
