  Need to Upgrade computer for After Effects?

  Hi,

  I just started a new job, they have me working on an older mac. They want me to do AE work, but thus far the computer has been lagging while editing, making it difficult to do VFX.

  The current computer specs are:

  2×3.2Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
  16GB 800 MHz DDR 2 FB-DIMM
  ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512 MB

  I have a feeling the video card is the only thing slowing me down. I was looking at the Quadro FX series by Nvidia. They are looking to make an upgrade that will give them some lifespan, they don’t want to have to upgrade again in 6 months.

  Any Suggestions?
