  • Need to mute audio while importing

Posted by Kris Kojian on May 16, 2008 at 3:02 pm

I am importing approximately seven hours of footage into Premiere Pro 2.0 and I need to silence or mute the audio so I can access other audio files in the meantime. Is there any way to do this? I have not been able to find a mute box or anything. Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Disconnect your speakers. It makes no difference, since accessing other files is still possible, but not advisable.

But I need the speakers to listen to the other audio files. I have enough memory/ram/whatever to import and run other applications smoothly, although I only have one set of speakers and need to listen to other things while it imports. Is there any way to manually mute the footage while still importing audio?

By this time you have probably finished capturing, so it seems irrelevant now.

It would still be nice to know for future reference. I’ve wondered about this for a while.

yeah I would love to be able to listen to my music while capturing without having to use a separate device.
