Wanting to know how this effect in the music video was made. It seemed like the editor had a lot more control over the effect than only using “echo” or even doubling frames and using a blending mode. Wondering if it is a plugin?

While I’ve never done this effect specifically, one plugin that’s really useful for these types of thing is Twitch from Videocopilot.net. It’s fast and straightforward but with lots of power. Particularly you may find the RGB split feature useful on it.

    Hope it works out,

Just looks like the clips have been layered up and offset, with blend mode on Screen.

What Jonathan said is true, Twitch by Video Copilot is awesome for this kind of thing, with the RGB split.
