I have a 7 minute long video done in Vegas 7 (SD video 4:3) that I need to upload onto a sports video site for a high school football player. The site will accept only WMV, MPEG2, MOV and AVI video files that are 100 MB or less. What format & settings do you suggest I use to keep the quality as good as possible.

    Thanks and Happy Memorial Day.

    Thanks
    Dave P.

Well the 100mb limit shouldn’t be a problem. Will this sports site be recompressing whatever you give them to a 320×240 flash video for streaming anyway? Even if they don’t, try rendering out a WMV file at 640×480, about 1.5mbps for the video and stereo audio at 128kbps and see how it looks.

It’s hard when sites say they support mov and avi, because those are wrappers and not actual formats. So I’d hate to suggest you make one of them with a specific codec and then find out the site doesn’t support it. But if they support wmv then give that a try. I normally use 1280×720 mp4’s for the web but I know youtube has done a good job using my 1280×720 wmv’s too.

David, thanks for your reply. The minimal information posted on the website doesn’t tell me anything except what size and formats of video they will accept. I will heed your advice and see what happens.
This website video stuff is pretty new to me so I’m trying to get a handle on it.

    Thanks again.

    Thanks
