need to automate a photo moving into the scene then out . . . about 90 times
Hi – I put together a little movie for our marketing dept where a photo slides into a scene, some action happens on the photo, then the photo slides out as the next photo slides in. We go through this for about 6 photos then the movie ends.
That’s all well and good but now they want me to make a much longer version with about 90 images in it.
In the original version I have each photo as a comp – within that comp I have a little ribbon pull across the screen (the afore mentioned “action”). In the main comp each photo is key framed to arrive from the right side of the screen, stop for 3 seconds, then exit to the left side of the screen. The first photo is exiting as the second photo is entering.
So – is there any way to do this without keyframing 90 photos? I’m not a super advanced AE users but I’ve got this far on my own and feel fairly comfortable with the application at this point. Does anyone have any suggestions?

There are several ways to go about this; sounds like the easiest would be a simple footage replacement in the comp. Duplicate one of the 6 compositions you have in the project window (select it and hit CMD or CTRL “D”). Name it what you will, open that comp, and highlight the photo layer. Hold down the ALT or OPTION key first, go back to the project window & grab the replacement photo, and drag and drop either in the timeline or the comp window.
That’s one.
Depending on your animation, it might be easier to make a composition with all of the photos timed using “sequence layers” and replace the photo with that. However, sounds like you’ve got 6 animation version? It’ll go fast.

One way is to:
1. stack all the layers in the main timeline so they start and end at the same time.
2. select the two keyframes you’ve already made and copy them.
3. select the rest of the layers and paste. They should all now have the same keyframes.
4. Select all layers and select animation>keyframe assistant>sequence layers, choosing an overlap if desired.… or you could use expressions. Anybody?
