I know I saw this somewhere and I can’t remember how to do. I want to have text crawl across the screen and instead of having the text colored, I want to have the moving background video mapped on the letters and have the letters act as a magnifier. Any ideas how to do this. I have the full adobe media suite along with Boris FX & Graffiti.

Make your crawl with white letters on a black background. (You may need to render/export it and bring it back as a clip.)

Use the crawl as the matte in a track matte key.

Take the video that you’re putting the thing over and place it on it’s own new sequence and use the scale tool in the effect control menu to “blow it up” a bit…then use that sequence as the key source for the crawl matte over the original video.

    Tim,

Thanks a lot!!!! I was so damn close, the bit about exporting the crawl and brining it back in is the part I was missing. Thanks again and happy holidays.
