  • Need suggestion with animating a cylinder ( R2D2 )

Hello. Coming from AE, I am a newbie to C4D. What I want to do is rather simple. I have downloaded a free model of Star War’s R2D2 into C4D and would like to animate its movement. The model consists of various parts that the original creator put together. Basically, R2D2 consists of a trash can like body, legs that pivots, and its head that rotates on top of the body.

I’ve noticed that the head is attached to circular rings that can turn, so I’ve decided to animate the bottom ring ( on top of the body ) in order to make its head move.

My simple problem is that I am getting the ” wobbly ” effect when I animate the head and can’t seem to get it to stop. Now I do notice that the x coordinate of the cylinder is 5 degrees off. However, the body is at 0 degrees. Keep in mind that R2D2 is slanted just a tad looking down on the ground. Just imagine one of those plastic Easter egg toys that twists off from the center and you can’t put it back if it is not perfectly aligned from top to bottom.

Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this? I hope the solution is simple.

    Regards
