Need some info on how to properly handle Mattes in AE.
Hey Fellow Cow Leaders and AE Gurus,
Just want a little input here on how to properly configure some
mattes over its own similar video to get a clean composite
with a transparent background.
They are some explosion footage from Artbeats with each
corresponding matte, i can get a clean transparent background,
but for the life of me i cant get the the centre of the footage
right, the dark regions in the middle of the explosions are also
transparent. Thanks much.Steve Rhoden

Try to switch between luma and alpha matte as track mattes to check which one is giving better results.
Also if the original video has a black BG then you can simply use
Red Giants Unmult plugin
which is free and removes black fVishesh Arora

Also give a try to Blend modes like Screen and Add. Sometimes these will give good results.

Thanks Vishesh, But none of that helps. I got the
background keyed quite nicely, but the centre of the explosions
has dark debris, hence those are keyed too and make the centre
also transparent, just cant find a way to get rid of the
transparent centre.Steve Rhoden

Try to adjust brightness of matt at center using Levels and Curves.
