  • Need some help with Premiere pro 1.5 audio stuttering

    Hi,

I have been given some DV footage to edit and I am trying to import it into Premiere Pro1.5 through a Canon XL1, and when I try and view or capture it the audio is all glitchy and stutters.
The footage given to me was not shot on the XL1 and it plays and sounds fine when I view it so i don’t think there was a microphone problem when it was recorded. Also, I tested some other DV tapes I have, also not shot with the XL1 and the audio seems fine on those.

It sounded like they may have used 2 microphones when they recorded the footage –does premiere have problems with this sort of stuff? The test tapes that I used which were fine were single mic setups.

Does this situation sound familar to anyone? Please, any help is good help right now!

    Thanks,

    Jonn

I don’t think that it is Premiere having the difficulty. We also have used the XL1 to capture footage that is shot with another camera. The XL1 is pretty picky, often dropping timecode and entire audio tracks as well when capturing. My recommendation is to simply use another DV camera to capture the footage (maybe the original camera it was shot on).

I have had a few issues with the XL1s in regards to capturing. Download the trial version of ScLive to determine if the problem is still there.
