Need Premiere CS3 Help & Workarounds…
When at work I usually edit with Avid Media Composer, and occasionally w/ FCP. Recently I bought the CS3 Production Suite for home use.
I’ve found Premiere frustrating to use and need some help with hopeful workarounds regarding the following:BINS & PROJECT MANAGER:
Is the creation date for each clip always blank in the creation date column? How can I change this?
How can I save different bin column layouts?
How can I reveal a clip at the windows finder level from within the project manager? Revealing in Bridge is not a valid option when dealing with HD, it’s becomes slow and one more app that takes up memory and resources.REFERENCE FILES
Are there really no reference files?
The theory regarding Dynamic Link is great on paper. It’s a huge hassle and does not work effectively when dealing with HD. Not having reference files is a mind blower.TIMELINE
How can I select a clip on the timeline without the use of the ingenious hack (KTool by Ludens)? Using a mouse is the most imprecise, inefficient and frustrating way to edit in my opinion. Others will disagree.
Can I select multiple clips and unlink audio from video?
How can I select a clip in the timeline or match frame a clip and revel it in the project manager?EXPORT

I believe you are approaching this from the wrong angle. You are trying to find out how to make Premiere Pro do things the way Avid does. I would strongly recommend that you learn how Premiere Pro works (from the ground up, so to speak) and then you will know how to do things in Premiere Pro regardless of how they’re done in other products.
You will find links to many free tutorials in the PremiereProPedia that will quickly show you how things are done in Premiere Pro.
