Need some help with Illustrator and Pro Animator. Logo’s always have holes plugged in.

Here is my workflow: I scan a text logo into photoshop – and then copy it into illustrator. Comes in OK. In Illustrator I do a Live Trace. I do threshold, path tightness, blur adjustments till my image looks faithful. I then Expand it to get vectors.

I can see the A and the hole in the “A” and the hole in “o” has a path around both paths inside and out. I select it all – and choose “Make Compound Path”. It says compound path in Layers Pallette. I hit the stroke color and give it a 1 or 2 pixel stroke. Save it as Illustrator Version 3. It comes into Pro Animator It shows up fine – BUT – all the holes are plugged in and filled !!! If I unclick show “front” and “back” faces I can see a nice open outline of my text logo. So im ok up to this point.

What do I have to do to make live traces come through properly?? Im spending hours trying this and that with unpredictable results.

Anyone got a tutorial for – basic dummies.
