I have a rented Sony HDW-S280 deck that I need to dump footage from. I have a Kona breakout box that I am connecting to the deck via HDSDI. I cannot get my Kona control panel to show that there is a video signal. I have been through all of the settings on the deck and cannot figure out why it wouldnt be outputting an HDSDI signal to my Kona card.

However, when I connect the same BNC cable to the composite input on my Kona and the composite output on the HDCAM deck, I can get an SD signal. Does anyone have experience with this deck and Kona?

    Thanks!

Have you tried the SD-SDI to see if your SDI port is fried? Unfortunately I’m not familiar with the deck, but I have had more than one port on a K-Box go out. Though it’s usually the Composite.

You may also want to check your Kona Software, if it needs an update or the card needs a firmware update the error could correct itself in the update.

Were you monitoring the deck in the field via HD-SDI? Have you tried both HD-SDI outs? Hopefully they’re not the problem….

Good news, if its the K-Box it’s only a couple hundred bucks to get up and running.

    Hopefully this helps somewhat.
