  • Need help w/ mixing 24p and 29.97…

Posted by Finn on April 23, 2005 at 11:31 pm

first, sorry if this is a common question. i’ve searched around and can’t find an answer.

i have some NTSC animated spots (from after effects) mixed with 24p footage from a dvx-100 and i’m using p pro 1.5. when i render the sequence out as a DV compressed AVI, i’m getting what i’m guessing is some sort of interlacing artifacts, it looks real jumpy (kind of like when you get the fields wrong). my question is a) what i need to do as far as rendering out 24p footage to NTSC so it will play w/o artifacts on a DVD, and b) how i can salvage my cuurent project. i don’t know if i need to do something with interpretting the footage? i just used the default settings before. is there any way i can get this to render out properly without starting over from scratch?

    thanks!

Do you have a conversion software that would convert the 24p to 29.97 or vice versa? I have been Procoder for some time and I am quite happy with it.

I would suggest exporting all of your 24p footage as 30i and then import both the components into a new 30i project. From here it should be smooth sailing.

Ok, it never fails, as soons as I click post I think of something else.

You can also import your 24p footage into a 30i project and let premiere render preview files for it. They will be ready to go as soon as it’s done.

so once i import the 24p footage, i can go to interpret footage and conform it to 29.97?

    thanks!

All you should have to do is press the enter key and wait for it to finish rendering.
