When capturing DVCProHD footage at 720p24, one clip ended up at 720p60. Stupidly I used cinema tools to conform to 24p, not realizing that this essentially slowed down my footage by over 50%. Cinema tools doesn’t have an option to conform to 59.94 (only 23.98 through 30). If I conform to 29.97 and speed up by 200% in FCP, I can get back to the right speed, but I don’t want to run the risk of any artifacts or quality issues, so I’d prefer not to do this. Redigitizing is a possibility, but would cost money to rent the deck. Is there a way to get this back to 59.94 on the source Quicktime? HELP ME.
    Thanks,
    Braden

I think you could take the 24p clip into Compressor, apply the 720p59.94 Advanced Format Conversion, turn frame controls on and set it so the source frames play at 59.94. You should be able to test the quality of this workflow with a short snippet and it will do no harm to your (now) 24p source clip.

I have the same issue. I have a handful of 59.94 clips that had dupe frames. By mistake I conformed them to 23.98. And now I’m stuck. I’m running Compressor 2.3. The Frame Controls section in Compressor doesn’t have a choice to pick a playback frame rate. Is that something that’s in Compressor 3?

Any other suggestions? tried converting to 29.97 then interpret in AE but no luck.

Yes, that option probably started in 3. The conform in Cinema Tools performs a similar function, but Braden said it does not have a conform to p59.94 option. You could enlist the help of a post house with a Kona 3 and other hardware.

yeah, compressor 3 did the trick. I used frame controls to get back to 59.94 then recompressed back to 23.98 and everything appears to be fine.
