  • Need help orbiting camera around comp

I apologize if this is on the forum somewhere, I searched but didn’t find anything that works for me.

I’ve never used the camera in AE, I use the one in 3dsmax, and that’s about it.

I have a 3d comp, and I just need the camera to orbit in a smooth circle around the layers, always facing inward. In 3dsmax, I’d just adjust the anchor and focus point, and rotate it around the anchor as many times as necessary. But the AE camera doesn’t have an anchor point. I can’t get anything to rotate around the anchor only. They always rotate around their own axis, adjusted by the anchor.

Can anybody help me with this one? I know a null has something to do with it, but I can’t get a null to rotate correctly either…I know I’m doing something wrong here.

    Thanks!

create a null, make it 3d. attach your camera to the null layer, and then just rotate the null.

or link everything but the camera to 1 object and then rotate that object.

If you add a camera to your seen then add a null and make it 3d and parent the camera to the null then rotate the null, as p suggested, you will love yourself.

If you have done such a thing you can move the null around the composition and wherever the null is, is where the camera’s looking and where the camera’s gonna spin.

Nope; The Emperor’s New Groove. Izma’s monologing about how to kill Cuzco.
